  • I'm an Idolater!?

I just realized tonight that I have a major problem with idolatry!!

I never knew how it applied to today--I always pictured these big constructed idols standing around in Israel that people kneeled and worshipped! Yep, I was wrong, at least partially.

Isaiah 2:8 says, "Their land is also full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, what their own fingers have made".

After reading that, I thought about how many times I've skipped my time with the Lord or getting in the Word to go in to work early, start a new fun project, clean the house, or do laundry...etc! I totally have been putting things in my day to fill the time instead or saying "no!" and getting in the Word! Sure He wants us to enjoy life and have fun with our passions, but not in priority over Him! God has blessed me with the 'doer' personality, but though I get a lot 'accomplished', I can often be running in place when it comes to lasting eternal value! No wonder I often don't feel like He is speaking to me clearly or I doubt His promises--because I am worshipping other things besides Him; the lines of communication are muffled by my busyness!

Oh God, please forgive me for my idolatry! Reveal to me every day the areas in which I have built an idol and help me to tear it down. I want You to be my only priority and then in the meantime enjoy my earthly passions:) cleaning and laundry:):):) lol Thank you for shedding Your light on my darkness!

"You are my witnesses, says the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know Me, believe Me, and remain steadfast to Me, and understand the I am He. Before Me, there was no God formed, neither shall there be after Me." Isaiah 43:10
