Onion Dip

When my husband and I need to find a good recipe for something, we often first Google how Alton Brown would make it. We love Alton Brown. And then, the next step is to figure out how to make it gluten free due to Ryan's sensitivity to gluten. Well this onion dip is from Alton and it is so good! Give it a try with your next veggie tray. 


Makes 8 servings
Preparation: 5 minutes
Cook: 20 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes
 

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups of diced onions
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 cups of sour cream
  • 3/4 cups of mayonnaise {we use this mayo so that it is gluten free and dairy free}.
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Preparation

  1. In a saute pan over medium heat, heat oil and add onions and first amount of salt. Cook onions until they are caramelized, about 20 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Mix the rest of the ingredients and then add the cooled onions. 
  3. Refrigerate and stir again before serving. Easy, right!? Enjoy!
